Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information EBM Group (Pty) Ltd collects through this website, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written to meet our obligations under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

Who we are

EBM Group (Pty) Ltd is a business consulting firm based in Willow Park Manor, Pretoria, Gauteng. For the purposes of POPIA we are the responsible party for the information described below.

Our Information Officer is responsible for how we handle personal information and for answering any request you make under this policy. You can reach them at info@ebmg.co.za or on 012 004 8394.

What we collect

We only collect what you type into a form on this site. Nothing is gathered in the background.

Enquiry form: your name, email address, contact number, company name where given, the services you selected and your message.
Quote request: the above, plus your business sector, annual turnover band, number of employees and, where the service calls for it, your current B-BBEE level.
Newsletter: your email address only.
Server logs: our hosting provider records IP addresses and request times as a normal part of running a website. We use these only to keep the site working and to limit automated abuse of the forms.

Why we collect it

To answer your enquiry and prepare an enquiry you have asked for.
To understand the size and sector of your business, because the work involved in a B-BBEE or ISO engagement depends on both.
To send you the updates you subscribed to, until you tell us to stop.
To protect the forms from automated abuse.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it to build a profile of you for advertising.

Who we share it with

Your information is handled by our staff and by the service providers that keep this website and our email running. Those providers process it on our instruction and for no other purpose. We will disclose information where the law requires it, and not otherwise.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as there is a reason to, and no longer:

Enquiries and quote requests that do not lead to work: two years from your last contact with us, after which they are deleted.
Records relating to work we carried out: five years after the engagement ends. This follows the record-keeping periods set by South African company and tax legislation.
Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe, at which point your address is removed.
Server logs: a short rolling period set by our hosting provider, typically a few weeks.

Where we are required by law to keep something for longer, we will, and for no other purpose than meeting that requirement.

How we protect it

This site is served over HTTPS, so what you type into a form is encrypted in transit. Form submissions are delivered to our own mail server rather than to a third-party form service. Access to enquiry records is limited to staff who need it.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask us to:

tell you what personal information we hold about you;
correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
delete information we no longer have a reason to keep;
stop sending you marketing, at any time and at no cost;
explain the basis on which we are processing your information.

Write to info@ebmg.co.za and we will respond within a reasonable period. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your request, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of this website. By using the site you accept them. They do not replace any written agreement we sign with you for actual consulting work, which takes precedence.

Using this site

You may read, print and share the content here for your own business purposes. You may not copy it to present as your own, or use it in a way that interferes with the site or with other people's use of it.

The information here is general

Everything on this site is published for general information. B-BBEE codes, ISO standards and company law change, and the right answer depends on your specific circumstances. Nothing here is advice for your situation, and you should not act on it without speaking to us or to another qualified adviser.

Quotes and enquiries

A quote request submitted through this site is a request, not an order. No engagement exists until we have agreed the scope, the fee and the timeline in writing. Any indicative timeline we mention is an estimate and depends on information and decisions from your side.

Outcomes

We will apply reasonable skill and care to every engagement, but we cannot guarantee a particular B-BBEE level, a certification result, or the decision of a verification agency, certification body or government department, because those decisions are not ours to make.

Our content

The text, images, logo and layout of this site belong to EBM Group Consulting or are used with permission. The name and logo may not be used without our written consent.

Links to other sites

Where we link to another organisation, we do so because it may be useful. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

Availability

We aim to keep the site available and accurate, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors, and we may change or remove content at any time.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of this website or from reliance on its general content. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa.

Cookie Policy

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. It is how a site remembers something between pages or visits.

What this site uses

At present this site sets one item, and it is not used for tracking:

Your cookie choice. When you accept or decline on the banner, we store that answer in your browser so you are not asked again on every page. It stays for twelve months and contains nothing else.

We do not currently run analytics, advertising or social media tracking on this site. If that changes, those cookies will only be set after you have accepted them.

Necessary and optional

Necessary items are the ones without which the site cannot work properly, such as remembering your cookie choice or keeping a form submission secure. These cannot be switched off.

Optional items cover analytics and anything used to measure or market to you. These are off unless you accept them, and declining costs you nothing on this site.

Changing your mind

You can clear cookies for this site at any time in your browser settings, which will make the banner appear again on your next visit. Most browsers also let you block cookies entirely, though this can stop parts of some websites working.
